WHO WE ARE

Live for Jesus, Share His Love

Come as you are

Grow Deep

Live Large

1. How we live our Mission out

We see our mission to Live for Jesus, Share his Love lived out in every person as you Come as you are, Grow deep and Live Large for God.

Live for Jesus:

Lifezone is a community where you can Come as you are. Here you Grow Deep in your love for the Word, in your passion for prayer and in your relationship with Jesus and others. God wants us to Live large as Jesus did, to step out in faith with what he has uniquely called us each to do for him.

Share His Love:

Seeing Lifezone as a place where you can Come as you are makes you realise that others need to experience the same love and belonging you have found. We want to Grow Deep in our prayer life to boldly ask the Holy Spirit to help us share the Father’s love with others. We believe as you find your own story of the saving grace of Jesus, you will boldly Live Large to share God’s story to those around you.

2. What Matters to us

We care for others: those in our church community and also those out in the community. We try to remind ourselves “It’s not about me,” and instead endeavour to live as Jesus did…. “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others” (Phil 2:4). Three key ways we see this happen at Lifezone are through Organic Outreach, Serving those in need and Pastoral Care.

1. Organic Outreach: For the last few years, Lifezone has been on a journey to level up our outreach temperature. Being the New Zealand Hub for Organic Outreach means that we are constantly on a journey to see more people come to faith. Click here to know more about Organic Outreach

2. Those in need: We believe in a holistic Gospel that sees people Spiritually and Physically fed. Both matter to us. “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor” (Isaiah 61:1; Luke 4:18). Jesus came for the poor, for those in society with no hope, for those who want and need help. The Gospels are full of stories of Jesus demonstrating that the poor matter (Matthew 5, 19, 25; Luke 1, 6, 12, 16; Mark 12).

3. Pastoral Care: We are committed to caring for our local church, to show the world that Jesus exists with the love we have for each other. “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.” John 13:35

3. Elders – Governance of Lifezone Church

The elders (“Eldership”) of Lifezone Church provide spiritual oversight, governance, direction and leadership for the overall church.   “So guard yourselves and God’s people. Feed and shepherd God’s flock—his church, purchased with his own blood —over which the Holy Spirit has appointed you as leaders.” Acts 20:28

4. Senior Pastors

Steve and Carlene Murray have been pastoring Lifezone Church since 2007. They came when it was a small church meeting in a school hall, and have grown it to where it is today.

The two main areas of Steve’s role is to clearly articulate vision to the church and to give direction of where we are going. This is primarily done through overseeing the teaching of God’s word, Sunday morning gatherings, and the overall leadership of Lifezone. Carlene’s main passion is to see Lifezone caring for the community of Tauranga. One of Lifezone’s purposes in “living for Jesus” is to be the hands and feet of Christ in the community.

7. Lifezone Statement of Faith

We believe in:
1. The authority & inspiration of the Bible
Inspired by God and written by men, the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

2. The Trinity
There is one God, existing eternally in three persons; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

3. God the Father
All people can trust the Father of creation to provide their earthly needs. But Christians can also trust their heavenly Father to provide for their spiritual needs. He also expects His children to talk to Him, in prayer.

4. God the Son
The virgin birth, humanity & deity of the Lord Jesus Christ.

5. God the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit’s indwelling, sealing and empowering of all believers in Christ.

6. Mankind
The perfect creation of humanity by God. The sinfulness of the entire human race is a consequence of sin by the first man, Adam.

7. Sin
Sin is disobedience to God. God has established that the penalty for sin is eternal separation from Himself, but has provided a way of reconciliation with Himself through Jesus Christ.

8. Salvation
Salvation is made up of three aspects: (i) God’s grace in reaching down to us, (ii) our faith in reaching up to God, and (iii) our belief that the death and resurrection of Christ removes the barrier of sin between us and God.

9. The Church
Christ is the Head of the church. Each individual church is a group of believers who meet together for teaching, worship, fellowship, sharing communion, and prayer. The church also prepares God’s people for evangelism and service.

8. Our Values

Our values are summarised best in our sayings…

Belong before you believe: You are welcome as you are, for who you are. We hope that you discover the reality of Jesus, but until then you still belong.

We are contributors, not consumers: We all play our part in building the church: it is everyone’s responsibility, young and old.

Here to Serve (HTS): It is a joy to serve and care for others.

Faithful obedience is our responsibility, the outcome is God’s: We are called to step out in faithful obedience, trusting God with the outcome.

We Empower and Release: Every person is empowered and released to use their God given gifts to build the Kingdom of God.

We would rather fail trying with faith than do nothing at all: Failure is ok, being inactive is not. Dream big and step out for God.

Show Grace: Grace transforms, but excuses do not.
